Had a great time this afternoon grooming lovely Poppy the Cocker Spaniel. She had a bath, blow dry and a good tidy, particularly around her ears as they were a bit matted. Nothing to be concerned about, though. She’s only two and this was her first visit to a groomer so she was very excitable at first but soon calmed down.
A Cocker Spaniel like Poppy should ideally be groomed every 4-8 weeks. It’s was easy to see that Poppy’s owners take great care of her but from what we were told, it seems her big floppy Spaniel ears are the first to matt up. With that in mind, she’s booked in for her next treatment in six weeks time. We can’t wait to see her!
If you have a Cocker Spaniel in the Weston Super Mare area and think they might be in need of a groom, have a look at their hair length and feel around for clumps of matted hair throughout the body. Cocker Spaniels’ hair grows very quickly and it takes a lot of daily brushing to keep their coat from getting tangled and matted. It should be easy to see if you have a stylish dog or a hairy one! As a rule of thumb, if they’ve not been trimmed for more than 3 months, they’re well overdue for a cut!
Once you decide that your dog needs a bit of pampering like little Poppy here, just give us a call. We’re available all day every day so get in touch now as we have a number of free slots in the coming weeks before things start to get busy for the spring.
